My 1st ever UN-Blue Monday

Last Monday was a happy Monday for me. I took leave to take a break from work and also to let Baby pamper me on my actual bday.

First, we brought Georgi for another "clean up" at VivoCity and had lunch at Crystal Jade. Spent a total of about S$70 on the following (including tea, towel and the what not)

I always love their roast pork. Tender, juicy and fatty! hahaha

Prawns in "Fu Pei Kuin"

Har Kow. We always order minimum 3 long and the servers will always ask the same question, "You sure you want 3 long?" hahaha.. never once they take our Har Kow order without asking anything.. we are so so so used to it now.

Chee Cheong Fan with prawns

I simply love this minced beef thick soup. Texture like Shark's Fin but has a stronger taste and really piping hot! SHIOK!

Their Xiao Long Bao was also good. When you bite the skin, the piping hot stock burst immediately and so much that it overflowed out of the soup spoon.

I thought this was jus another normal mango pudding but it was better than I expected. Nice!

Tang Yuan with sesame paste. Baby had this and I did not eat coz I dun like sesame paste (prefer peanut paste).

I'm always quite satisfied when it comes to dining in Crystal Jade coz they always serve fresh and yummilicious Dim Sum. They seldom go wrong.

After this, we went to PageOne to get some books and Faceshop to get my cosmetics, before collecting the goondu Georgi. Saw another handsome Samoyed at the petshop, and a couple of Nihon Supittsu aka Japanese Spitz. So wanna bring all of them home man!

In the evening, Baby brought me to Shima Restaurant at Goodwood Park Hotel for Teppanyaki, which was my actual bday treat... hehe.. I requested for this coz I have not eaten real good Teppanyaki for damn long and apparently reviews showed that Shima serves one of the best Teppanyaki. We shared 2 different set dinners. Shall show more pictures and lesser words.. hehe

Entrance of the restaurant. Quite old school looking but very clean.

They have another dining section behind where they serve sashimi and other Japanese dishes, besides Teppanyaki.

I love going to authentic Japanese restaurants even when the furniture look damn old.. coz they are always very clean and neat.

Their Gin & Lime Cordial. Nice but can't taste much Gin thou.

Some appetizers to start with. The Salmon Sashimi was daaaaamn fresh and smooth! The salad has a very interesting dressing.

Some tempura before the main course.

This is the Executive Chef Michael Ho who cooked for us. I did not take a picture of him coz paiseh.. haha.. the above was taken from the Street Directory. He is a very friendly chef.

The lobster was shiok man! Inside the shell was Sake. It was too strong for me so Baby drank them. He felt like pouring all the sake from the shell into his mouth but it would be quite unsightly so no choice but to drink them bit by bit using the teaspoon as shown in the picture.. hehe.. Also surprisingly when the lobster was being cooked, its feelers were still moving and we were taken aback. Chef Ho joked by commenting it's still alive.. haha

Pictures below onwards are based on one and my portion only..

This was the cut up pieces of lobster and sweet onion

The Salmon was really fresh and sweet.

The Scallops were fresh but taste was so so for me. I love scallops but this was not very impressive thou..

This beef fillet was tender and juicy

Vegetables were crispy and fresh.

This was the process of Chef Ho frying the garlic rice.
(Permission was granted before videoing)

Outcome was this bowl of fragrant Garlic Rice. We ordered an additional serving after the first bowl... coz I'm a png tang, can never live without rice, plus it's really nice... hehe...

Basically the ingredients they used were really fresh. Overall experience was good but not very WOW for both of us. The dishes are nice but not exceptional. I think the price will shock u coz it shocked me!! 2 set dinners with 2 glasses of Gin & Lime Cordial, 2 cans of 7-up and an additional serving of garlic rice, total amounting to an astonishing S$329.55!!!

I tot it was really expensive! Apart from the freshness of their ingredients, it was not exactly a WOW encounter for me. I would think they serve better sashimi and other Japanese dishes than Teppanyaki, coz their salmon sashimi really blew me away. Will probably go back again, only for their other authentic Japanese food, but not the Teppanyaki.

After dinner, we went home and a bday cake was waiting for me. Baby secretly ordered and collected the cake from Room for Desserts in the afternoon while I was taking afternoon nap before the dinner. It was a really sweet gesture coz I tot the dinner would be the last event of the day. Everyone at home joined me for the cake cutting and sung bday song. To be honest, I never celebrate my bday like this, pathetic as it may sound but yes it's true. I dun really take my bday seriously, and I dun hold big parties or celebration, not even during my 21st bday... in fact there was no celebration at all on my 21st bday.. haha.. therefore this was a really nice and heartwarming mini celebration.

Gosh I'm old already! No more change!!! hahahaha.. actually I would prefer Chris to be the one baking my bday cake for me for FREE :P but shall excuse her coz she is preggy now.. there's always next year to make amends huh.. hehe

Thank you all my friends who had wished me. Some wishes were really unanticipated but I'm very very happy to receive them... and most of all thank you Baby for planning this. It was a great Monday for me.. a totally UN-Blue Monday :)

p/s: But next day was a very BLUE Tuesday coz back to work.. Bleargh!
