GIRL : No thanks, it isn't heavy.

GIRL : Say you love me! Say you love me!
BOY : You love me...

GIRL : If we become engaged will you give me a ring??
BOY : Sure, what's your phone number??

GIRL : I think the poorest people are the happiest.
BOY : Then marry me and we'll be the happiest couple

GIRL : Darling, I want to dance like this forever.
BOY : Don't you ever want to improve??

BOY : I love you and I could die for you!
GIRL : How soon??

BOY : I would go to the end of the world for you!
GIRL : Yes, but would you stay there??

SHARON : Have you ever had a hot passionate, burning kiss??
TRACY : I did once. He'd forgotten to take the cigarette out of his mouth.

MAN : You remind me of the sea.
WOMAN : Because I'm wild, romantic and exciting?
MAN : NO, because you make me sick.

WIFE : You tell a man something, it goes in one ear and comes out of the other.
HUSBAND : You tell a woman something: It goes in both ears and comes out of the mouth.

MARY : John says I'm pretty. Andy says I'm ugly. What do u think, Peter?
PETER : A bit of both. I think you're pretty ugly.

Girlfriend : '...And are you sure you love me and no one else ?'

Teacher : 'What do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?'
Pupil : 'A teacher'.

Waiter : 'Would you like your coffee black?'
Customer : 'What other colors do you have?

Teacher : 'Sam, you talk a lot !'
Sam : 'It's a family tradition'.
Teacher : 'What do you mean?'
Sam : 'Sir, my grandpa was a street hawker, my father is a teacher'.
Teacher : 'What about your mother?'
Sam : 'She's a woman'.

Tom : 'How should I convey the news to my father that I've failed?'
David : 'You just send a telegram: Result declared, past year's performance repeated'.

Teacher : 'Now, children, if I saw a man beating a donkey and stopped him, what virtue would I be showing?'
Student : 'Brotherly love'.

Teacher : 'Now, Sam, tell me frankly do you say prayers before eating?'
Sam : 'No sir, I don't have to, my mom is a good cook'..

Patient : 'What are the chances of my recovering doctor?'
Doctor : 'One hundred percent. Medical records show that nine out of ten people die of the disease you have. Yours is the tenth case I've treated. The others all died'.

Teacher : 'Can anybody give an example of COINCIDENCE?'
Student : 'Sir, my Mother and Father got married on the same day and at the same time.'

Teacher : 'George Washington not only chopped down his father's Cherry tree, but also admitted doing it. Now do you know why his father didn't punish him ?'
Student: ' Because George still had the axe in his hand.'

Rec

I just watched REC this afternoon with Baby at GV Tiong Bahru. After blogging about this movie few months back (LINK), this movie is finally out in Singapore. Actually, I only expect the Hollywood version to be out (i.e Quarantine) but the Spanish version was too released in Singapore and even earlier than Quarantine.

Firstly, I'm puzzled why they were showing the trailer of Quarantine (Hollywood version) before showing Rec in that theatre - no planning involved or what?? Anyway the movie was not too bad, at least it's a horror show with a storyline so you are truly immersed into the movie, not as absurd as Cloverfield (was a total disaster both effect and storyline!). Rec's also a movie based solely on video recording but the process was not as shaky as Clovershitfield. I could still remember vividly the nauseating effect Clovershitfield filled me with. It was so unbearable that I almost wanna leave the theatre. The tot of it is already making me wanna puke.

Overall IMO, Rec is a decent horror movie to watch but it's nothing spectacular and rather predictable as the ending of the show was already highlighted in the trailer. Watch it if you are into real frightening scenes instead of being scared for nothing by the usual stupid scary noises and effects.

I dun think I will be watching the one Hollywood remake having watched this original Spanish version.. coz I believe original is usually better. Mayb I'm bias but alot of remake movies proved my statement right, no? haha

Now.... another similar hand held video recording movie might be coming to Singapore in due course.. Diary of the Dead, anyone?

Georgi digging his own grave!

Gboy's gonna get "adidas-ed" (3 stripes from cat's claw!) soon if he does not learn to be smarter from now onwards.

He tried to be macho yesterday and this morning. He fought with the psycho cat, Eek, at home yesterday night, not literally thou but bad enough. Eek was sitting at one corner outside my room. Gboy walked out from my room, wanted to pick up his toy and Eek got psychotic and hissed at him. Gboy's very sensitive to his hiss since the very 1st time Eek did that to him, so started barking at him and Eek retaliated. I did not get to witness the whole scene coz my view was blocked from the room. Anyway after the so called few seconds fight was over, I tot everything was ok since I did not see any form of damage on Gboy from my bare eyes, until I saw traces of blood beneath his eyes after sometime. Worried that his eyeballs might have gotten scratched by Eek's sharp claws, Baby and I used a torchlight and scrutinised for any indication of scratch marks. Nothing fortunately, but his left lower eyelid got a small cut and bled a little. Was wondering whether his eyelid will swell but I guess the damage was not tat great coz his left eye looked fine this morning.

Not long after I left home for work, he did another macho act. I was already at work and Baby was the one who told me what Gboy had done. This time, he irritated the other cat, Maxi. What happened was.....

Yeah.. two cats were fighting outside our house with all the hissing and fierce meowing (we have alot of cats residing in our neighbourhood - it's their territory). So this KPO Gboy - dunno trying to be a hero or a referee wannabe - got all hysterical, ran and jumped onto the sofa near the window and looked outside to witness the ferocious fight. Little did he know that Maxi was sleeping soundly on the sofa and he happily jumped on her and startled the poor gal. What's worse, Gboy was totally oblivious to Maxi's existence (not a wee bit guilty), still stood there with his hind legs and enjoyed the fight outside. But being the gentle and sane Maxi, instead of fighting or hissing at Gboy, she gave him an angry meow, jumped off immediately and ran away. Oh boy was Georgi lucky! If not, I bet his other eye will be scratched too!

Sigh.. when will my Gboy learn the art of cats siaming and be a smarter boy?

Sandy Lam's Concert 2008

Went to Sandy's Lam concert last Sat with Penny. The stadium was quite full.

Sandy's voice is still as clear and crisp as ever! My only views were that the songs she sang in her last concert were better. This year was a little disappointing and she did not sing the songs I was longing to hear. There was also no English songs except "I Swear", which I really hate. I never like this song thou she sang it well. Her costumes for this concert were also not as spectacular as the last.

Other than all these, I really enjoyed all the old songs she sang. Thou in a different rendition, she sang them really well.

The older she gets, the better she looks. Dun you think so too?

Check out some of her performances that night (it's NOT recorded by me):

Tropic Thunder

Caught TROPIC THUNDER last weekend at GV Tiong Bahru with Baby. I think for a stupid show, it's a MUST watch! And if you love stupid shows, lagi MUST watch! hehe

I seldom recommend dumb show but this ridiculously hilarious one is worth watching coz of the whole plot and cast. Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr are also some of my favourite actors. All come together, how can they not be funny?!

To understand this movie, first you have to familiarise yourself with them.. hehe (click to go to their individual official website)

And can you guess who this person is? He is acting as Les Grossman, the studio executive, in the movie. Until Baby told me, I did not realise thru out the show coz he got a heavy makeover.. he is a famous actor so none of you should not know him. I dun wan to be a spoiler so I'm not telling but if you wan to spoil it yourself, you can jus google and the answer will be out! haha..

Hachiko, Japan Most Loyal Dog!

Have you ever heard of this story about an Akita dog in Japan, whose statue was erected to pay tribute to his loyalty and faithfulness to his owner? This is a true story.

(Actual picture of Hachiko)

Hachiko, a male Akita dog, was born in Odate, Japan in 1923. When he was 2 months old, he was sent to the home of Professor Eisaburo Ueno of the Agricultural Department of the Tokyo University. The professor stayed in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. Hachiko's was so closely bonded with the professor that he would send him off to work and greet him from the same spot at Shibuya station everyday without fail.

In 1925, the professor suffered a stroke and died at the university. Hachiko was 18 months old then. From that day onwards, Hachiko never see the professor again. After that, he still faithfully waited for his master at the same spot daily for the next 10 years, walking home alone each time. Nothing and no one could discourage him from doing this everyday. He would even break loose from the dog chain if he's bounded. His faithful wait lasted until he died in 1935.

Today, the bronze statue of the Akita dog, Hachiko, erected at the spot where he waited for his master outside the Shibuya Station, pays silent tribute to the breed's faithfulness and loyalty. A festival is also held there every April. The location is now a popular meeting point in Tokyo.

Hachiko’s stuffed and mounted remains are at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo (as above).

This video clip is extracted from the 1987 film "Hachiko Monogatari"

It's really sad. Just watching this trailer made me cry. The full movie is available in parts in YouTube but it's in Japanese and no English subtitles. Sianz...

Now... my main purpose in blogging this is to let you guys know that Hollywood is going to remake this true story and it's scheduled to release in 2009. Below is a clip on part of the movie making of "Hachiko: A Dog's Story" starring Richard Gere & Joan Allen.

I'm definitely going to catch this in cinema and I'm sure it's going to be another tissue time.

I'm going to Sandy Lam's concert!

I'm going with Penny-san again to Sandy Lam's concert at Indoor Stadium. This time gotta pay coz the last time we went was FREE. Her last concert was in 2006 (Link). I fell in love with her rendition of the song "Almost Over You", which she sang in her last concert. I wish she could sing this song again in this coming one. Enjoy the song (but this was not the video clip of her last concert in Singapore. FYI)

ALMOST OVER YOU

I can't wait to listen to her powerful voice LIVE again on 18 Oct 08!

Foodified & Movie!

Post below is almost all about food so WARNING: Droooools ahead! Dun read this if you are super hungry! HA!

Previous weekend had advanced birthday lunch with Marc. We went to Crystal Jade Dining In at VivoCity, at the same time brought my little rascal for grooming. We had to queue as I did not make prior reservation, but did not have to wait very long.

Nice setting (not like those you see at Crystal Jade Kitchen) but seating space a little cramp.

Starter and the MUST HAVE chilies!

Glutinous Rice. NICE!

I will always order this Thick Beef Soup whenever I dine here. Texture like Shark's Fin and really tasty.

Chicken Feet for Marc coz I dun eat them.

Prawn in Bean Curd Skin (in Cantonese is "Fu Pei Kuin")

All time favourite "Har Kow". Their prawns are really fresh.

I like their Xiao Long Bao coz they are piping hot and the stock was well trapped inside. It flowed out instantly the moment you punched a hole on the skin. SHIOK!

Chee Cheong Fun with Prawn filling. Nice but too little sauce so we asked for more.

Total bill was about S$60 - S$70 (I couldn't recall). Everything was relatively good and it was a nice lunch with good company.

Last sat caught BURN AFTER READING with Baby at GV Grand.

This is a comedy thriller - another Coen brothers production. A combination of dark comedy, tragic, crime, thriller, idiocy etc. A movie that makes you laugh thou you know it's really dumb, and many a time makes you feel "Doh". It's silly but silly in a funny way. Intelligent yet not so intelligent. Different situations entangled, from simply nothing to a whole lot of complications and became kinda tragical in the end. But I have to say the actors were really good in portraying their roles and Brad Pitt was really funny in that character. So only watch if you are either a fan of this kinda weird ass movie or George Clooney/Brad Pitt. There's a hokkien saying "Kiang Ju Ho, Mai Ge Kiang". Yeah IMO, the moral of this movie is: Dun act smart!

Had dinner on the same day at Tampopo located at level 1 of Liang Court. It used to be located at B1. I think Liang Court is undergoing some renovation so the interior was quite disorganized. However, it was not difficult to find the restaurant.

There was a long queue and it's by queue number system. But we managed to get our seat quite fast, mayb coz there's only two of us.

The salmon sashimi was really fresh! I love it!

This is their famous Black Pig Shabu Ramen. The meat were thinly sliced and really tender and tasty. The stock was nice!

This is also one of the specialties - Pork Cutlet. They have the top and normal grade. Top grade was sold out so we took the normal grade. I would say apart from their crispiness, the normal grade meat was nothing spectacular. Hmmm hope I get to try the Top grade one on my next visit.

This Saba aka mackerel was very juicy and tasty. Grilled to perfection! Must eat while it's still piping hot.

I love this Scoop cake! Fresh cream all over with chunks of mango inside. Taste similar to Strawberry Shortcake. Should try!

Baby ordered this Custard Pudding. I'm not a fan of this but I tried and it was quite nice, not too sweet.

I think it's quite worth the price for the quality we got. Both Baby and I were really satisfied after the dinner. Will definitely go back again. Reservation recommended.

The next day, which was Sun, had dinner at Sin Hoi Sai (Blk 55 Tiong Bahru Rd) with my dad to celebrate his birthday. Some of you might know this is a very famous "Tze Char" place for overseas celebrities like HK and Taiwan. They serve really nice and tasty dishes but WARNING: they are not cheap!

It's right behind the bus stop along Tiong Bahru Rd (directly opposite Link Hotel). It's not difficult to spot.

Fried Mian Xian. This is really good - very springy. A MUST TRY for noodle dish.

Sambal Kang Kong. Kang Kong was crunchy and the sambal they use is fragrant.

Steamed Garoupa. Very fresh to the extent that it still taste good even when it's cold - no fishy taste. SHIOK!

Sweet and Sour Pork. Another SHIOK dish! The flour thinly covers the meat (not like some places the flour is more than the meat) so you will get a good bite of the tender pork. Sauce starchy and thick with just-nice sweet and sour combination.

Chili crab. I have tried both their chili and pepper crab and they are good. The spiciness is not too overwhelming.

Fried Bun for the crab. Normal lar.. good if you wan some bun to go with the chili crab sauce.

Gong Bao frog leg (宫宝田鸡) - So so only. The Geylang 宫宝田鸡粥 wins anytime.. hehe

Total bill was S$171.50. The dishes all came in small portions so I think they were not cheap for that kinda price but for an experience is ok. Reservation strongly recommended, especially during weekend.
