Bruno & The Last House on the Left

Caught THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT & BRUNO last weekend.

This was a remake from Wes Craven 1972 film. When I watched the trailer, I did not think it was going to be nice but the movie turned out to be rather engaging, brutal and violent.. I tot the movie was more thriller than horror plus it's more gory than scary.. The ending was cool.

Please watch this with an open mind, otherwise you will most probably be grossed out, especially the last part... hehe.. I personally thought it was "Dangerously Funny"! Some parts were hilarious, crude and offensive, some scenes might even make you squirm with disgust but I think he's risking too much to do this... Wonder what he will do next?

UP or DOWN?

At a Senior Citizen's luncheon, an elderly gentleman and an elderly lady struck up a conversation and discovered that they both loved to fish.

Since both of them were widowed, they decided to go fishing together the next day. The gentleman picked the lady up, and they headed to the river to his fishing boat and started out on their adventure. They were riding down the river when there was a fork in the river, and the gentleman asked the lady, 'Do you want to go up or down?'

All of a sudden the lady stripped off her shirt and pants and made mad passionate love to the man right there in the boat! When they finished, the man couldn't believe what had just happened, but he had just experienced the best sex that he'd had in years. They fished for a while and continued on down the river, when soon they came upon another fork in the river. He again asked the lady , 'Up or down ?'

There she went again, stripped off her clothes and made wild passionate love to him again. This really impressed the elderly gentleman, so he asked her to go fishing again the next day. She said yes and there they were the next day, riding in the boat when they came upon the fork in river, and the elderly gentleman asked, 'Up or down?'

The woman replied, 'Down.'

A little puzzled and disappointed, the gentleman guided the boat down the river when he came upon another fork in the river and he asked the lady, 'Up or down ?'

She replied, 'Up.'

This really confused the gentleman so he asked, 'What's the deal? Yesterday, every time I asked you if you wanted to go up or down you made mad passionate love to me. Now today, nothing!'

She replied, 'Well, yesterday I wasn't wearing my hearing aid and I thought the choices were Fuck or Drown... !!!"

Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention 2009

Our company was one of the partners in STGCC. It was held from 14 - 16 Aug 09 at Suntec City Convention Centre. Was asked to help out at the booth on Fri & Sat. The turnout was really good! We were so busy we did not even have time to go toilet. Below were some of the pictures I took during my precious skiving time.. hehe...

Baby's idol...

Picture of Brian Bolland

He is a nice and humble chap. My crew and I went to find him at his booth and there was already a long Q even before he arrived. When we finally get to see him, we had a brief chat but he was very busy after that so we decided to leave and let him work in peace. The next day when we went back, he was not there yet but his manager told us he came to look for us the previous day and was searching but could not locate our booth so he went back. Such a humble man with no airs!

I reserved a drawing of a batman head shot (S$50) but he was not able to draw in the end (long story). I think he had too many requests and he's tired of drawing. Hmmmm.. mayb the managers made him work too hard coz at one occasion, I saw one of them counting money happily. I was just one of the suay ones who did not managed to get a piece of his work. What a pity!

However, he drew something as a gift to our company and I took a video of the whole process. Friends, please check out my facebook for more info.

Overall, this year's comic con is so much more organised and more exhibitors involved than last year. Got myself a couple of Uglydoll keychains.. They are ugly but cute! Only S$5 each when retail price is at S$15 each! Great deal! I hope next year will be better!

UP, Frozen Flower & Orphan

Caught these movies recently.

UP in 3D

Again Pixar will never go wrong. Cute, funny, uplifting and heartwarming movie. But not worth watching it 3D coz there's not much effect.. you wun miss out anything without it. A story about love, loss and letting go.. quite emotional at some parts. I enjoyed it.

FROZEN FLOWER (霜花店)

One of the better Korean movies I have watched so far. Story was provocative, beautiful & gripping. The bloody scenes and sword fighting effects were very real and the traditional Korean songs in the show were beautifully sung. The love hate relationship between the King, his bodyguard aka lover and the Queen were truly intense. I was surprised by the number of steamy scenes in the movie, including the part between the King and his lover.. was rather unexpected. Thou the splattering blood scenes were gruesome, they were nothing compared to the part towards the end, something that would make every man groan in agony! It was not literally acted out but I could feel the pain and gruesomeness even without witnessing it!

This movie is full of tension, lust, violence & betrayal. If you cannot accept explicit and steamy heterosexual/homosexual scenes, you might be turned off. However IMO, every sex scene could actually bring the audiences to another level of understanding. If you could handle them, this is definitely worth watching.

ORPHAN

Interesting plot with good cast whose names were unfamiliar to me. And Yes to the mini tagline that you will never guess her secret until the end - great twist. Thou you could predict the next move by Esther, her acting skills were applaudable. Somehow this movie reminded me of Joshua.

Lady Gaga @ Fort Canning Park on 12 Aug 09

As my company was the official TV partner for Lady Gaga's concert @ Fort Canning Park, I got a pair of complimentary tickets to witness her concert. Cool! And I knew Alicia mentioned that she wanted to go coz of her favourite song Pokerface so grabbed her along.

The crowd was insane! Her concert was the culprit for the heavy traffic jam near ROM. We alighted the taxi at about 750pm and realised we had to join the queue on the pedestrian walkway along the road, which was so far away from the entrance, plus the queue behind us never stopped, it got longer and looooooogner! I heard the attendance was about 10K, which includes teenagers, young adults and many many Ang Mohs!

Then we finally managed to get in and found ourselves quite a good spot on the grass patch, only to be tortured by the long waiting time standing on the slope! They were playing house music during the agonizing wait. The crowd was so hyped up.. I'm feeling old....

Many people outside were still trying to get in and we waited until about 9pm before the "Superstar" finally appeared but....... on a projection! WTF!

Everyone was screaming for her to come out. I think all of us were losing our patience...

Tortured for another 10mins or so before she FINALLY came out on stage and sang her first song "Paparazzi". This was one of my favourite songs, along with Just Dance, Love Game and Pokerface.

She kept talking about chilli crabs, loved showing her middle finger and swears a lot.

Below were some of the pictures I took.. not very clear thou, coz I was quite far behind.. all these were already taken with a 5x zoom! haha

Look at that pair of butt cheeks! Btw she got cellulite on her thighs! Alicia and I saw them very clearly with our own eyes when the light shined on her butt!

I think she was also a part time acrobat. Stand on both legs on the chair, bend down and play the piano, one leg up tapping the keyboard with her heels... Stunts liao liao during her piano session.

But I have to admit she's really talented. Can play piano (with heels somemore), bass, drums and all.. and also has a good and strong voice.. I love people with talents! Impressive!

The end.... That's it!! There was no ENCORE after such a long wait and short performance that ended at 1030pm! I heard from Penny that Keane's concert got not 1 but 2 encores and ended at about 11plus! Well I guess since she only has one album, she would not have that many songs to do an encore... hehe

Few videos I took.

Performing Paparazzi..

Talking to all her fans..

Performing Brown Eyes...

Performing another version of Pokerface..

"Where Got Ghost?" Spooky Night

Went for the WHERE GOT GHOST? Spooky Night with family on Fri, 7 Aug. It was held at Marina Square and the spooky tour was in Bukit Brown Cemetery (also know as the Kopi Hill).

The Spooky Tour

It was an hour's tour and bus trips started at 730pm. There were a total of 6 buses with 50 passengers on each bus. We were the 1st bus to arrive the cemetery, 1st batch to finish the tour, yet was the last to board the bus coz our bus came late!

During the tour, I was very uncomfortable... not because I was frightened... mainly because my body was sticky from the extreme humidity and the cemetery was so crowded I was sure all the ghosts had long disappeared due to the overwhelming of "Yang Qi". The walk was boring and air was very stuffy. I could literally feel droplets of sweat dripping down my body! It was more like a Sauna tour. I was also quite confident that the theater later would be filled with all sorta smells from the 300, not spartans but, sweaty people.

Jack Neo and a couple of his crew joined us for the walk too. I would have to say I totally did not enjoy the tour.

We returned to Marina Square at about 10pm.

The Movie

Each of us got a popcorn combo and waited for the movie to start at 11pm. I was feeling sticky, tired and sleepy already. Quite fortunate that there was no unpleasant smell coming out from the sweaty 300. Thou the walk was terrible, the "hor-medy" was a consolation. I was laughing so hard I was not sleepy anymore. Many of the jokes were original and the hokkien ones would never go wrong. Straightforward and very Singaporean. The only major flaw to me was the use of CG effects, looked stupid and very fake. This part kinda spoilt the movie.

Overall, the movie was enjoyable, not the walk.
